Pilgrim’s Pride (PPC) Offers to Acquire Gold Kist (GKIS)

Friday, November 30th, 2007

On Friday, integrated poultry producer Pilgrim’s Pride (PPC) publicized its offer to acquire smaller rival Gold Kist (GKIS) for $20 per share. The offer values Gold Kist at roughly $1.16 billion including the assumption of $144 million in debt. The $20 a share cash offer represented a nearly 55% premium over Friday’s closing price of $12.93.

Since the offer was made public, the market price of Gold Kist’s shares has risen to $19.88.

Going Public

On Friday, Pilgrim’s Pride put out a press release that included the text of a letter delivered to Gold Kist’s board (that same day). In the release, Pilgrim’s Pride claimed it has “substantial current liquidity” and that its financial advisors have given the company “further assurances” that Pilgrim’s Pride has the ability to finance the transaction.

The release also suggested the transaction would be accretive to EPS in the first full year following the merger; the combined company would enjoy approximately $50 million in anticipated synergies. During 2005, Gold Kist had sales of over $2.3 billion while incurring Selling, General, and Administrative costs (SG&A) of just $112.2 million. So, these anticipated synergies would likely come from the cost of goods sold line. Pilgrim’s Pride suggested as much in the release by stating such synergies were “expected to come primarily from the optimization of production and distribution facilities and cost savings in purchasing, production, logistics, and SG&A”.

A Fair Price?

The letter to Gold Kist’s board is generally unremarkable, being full of the usual platitudes such as “value creation for our respective shareholders, employees, business partners and other constituencies”. Considering the price at which Gold Kist currently trades, the limited expected synergies, and the fact that the current proposal is for an all cash deal, it seems far more likely Pilgrim’s Pride is looking to create value for its shareholders by capturing the wide spread between the market price of Gold Kist and the company’s value to a 100% owner.

Pilgrim’s Pride shouldn’t be faulted for trying to exploit such an opportunity. However, investors shouldn’t view the deal as a value creating combination when it is clearly an opportunistic attempt to buy something for less than its worth.

The letter did state that Pilgrim’s Pride is “willing to discuss alternative forms of consideration, including a mix of cash and Pilgrim’s Pride common stock“. We’ll see what this means in the days ahead.

I suspect it means some small amount of stock as a sweetener rather than a radically different mix of cash and stock. The reason for this is obvious. Shares of Pilgrim’s Pride are probably worth a lot more than their quoted price; so, a deal consisting of a large amount of stock in place of cash would actually be a big step up in the true amount of economic consideration given in exchange for Gold Kist’s operations.

Valuation

Now, some may argue that this deal is aimed in large part at capturing synergies rather than exploiting a difference between the price and value of a competitor. If you look at chicken producers Pilgrim’s Pride, Gold Kist, and Sanderson Farms (SAFM), you’ll see that the current price-to-sales and price-to-book ratios aren’t that low relative to where these stocks have traded in the past.

That’s true. But, they’ve been quite cheap in the past. Over the last ten years, these stocks have strongly outperformed the S&P 500. For the most part, this outperformance has not been the result of multiple expansion in terms of either price-to-sales or price-to-book. Today, both Pilgrim’s Pride and Sanderson Farms trade at roughly the same price-to-sales and price-to-book ratios as they did from 1996-1998. Yet, they’ve strongly outperformed the S&P 500 since then.

There’s a case to be made that the chicken producers actually deserve to trade at higher price-to-sales and price-to-book ratios than they have in the past. If you buy that argument, then the fact that Gold Kist is already trading at or above the kind of price-to-book and price-to-sales multiples chicken stocks have often traded at, doesn’t mean Pilgrim’s Pride isn’t getting a bargain at $20 a share.

Cash vs. Stock

For Gold Kist shareholders there’s a simple solution to the problem of getting a raw deal. While Gold Kist may be cheap, it’s no longer cheap relative to the other chicken stocks - including Pilgrim’s Pride.

So, the easiest way to ensure a good deal would be to insist Pilgrim’s Pride puts its stock where its mouth is. If both Pilgrim’s Pride and Gold Kist are undervalued, paying for Gold Kist in stock would require the swapping of one undervalued asset for another. That would make for a true combination. Of course, it also might make the deal a lot less attractive for Pilgrim’s Pride.

If I were a Gold Kist shareholder, I’d want the deal to be all stock. There’s nothing wrong with swapping part ownership of one poultry producer for part ownership of a new, larger poultry producer. But, there is potentially something very wrong with swapping part ownership of a poultry producer for cash.

Details Of The USA Optimum Gold Application

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

The USA Optimum Gold Credit Card is issued by USA Credit and is designed for those with poor to limited credit who want to establish or re-establish credit.

Although there is a set-up fee of $149.95, it is considered reasonable compared to similar cards, which sometimes charge anywhere between $200 and $400 for the first year of membership. The USA Optimum Gold Credit card has no annual fee or interest on purchases. Everyone who applies for this card will be accepted based on the issuer’s “No Credit Check or Credit Turn downs” policy, but certain restrictions apply. The applicant must be 18 years of age or older, live in the United States (excluding Wisconsin), have an active checking account, and have household income of at least $800 monthly.

Those who choose to become active members will discover that all transactions will be reported to a major credit card as an unsecured card. The drawback to the card is that it isn’t a MasterCard or Visa that you can use everywhere; it’s a merchandise card that is used to make retail purchases through the USA Credit website and catalogs. As such, the card can only be used for purchasing selected merchandise or services. Of course, this may not be a drawback for everyone, especially those who are looking for a low cost way to purchase some of the things that they would like to have or need.

For those trying to establish or re-establish credit, the fact that transactions are reported to major credit bureaus may be enough to interest them in the USA Optimum Gold Card along with the fact that there is no interest charged on purchases. If you don’t mind the fact that this card is really just a retail credit card much like getting a card from a department store such as Macy’s, J.C. Penney’s, or Sears, then you will find it quite useful.

For more information or to apply for the USA Optimum Gold, Beth Derkowitz recommends Find Credit Cards.

Women of the Gold Rush Era Not Told to Stay Home

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Okay, you males out there - listen up, because it’s way time for you folks to get a clue. I don’t know where the mid to late 1900’s male idea that women are helpless came from, but it is quarter past high time for you all to get over it. Women do not have the raw body strength ounce per ounce that a man has, we aren’t going to argue that. If I had an acre of land to plow I would undeniably hire a man over a woman any day. Where the idea that I am helpless follows from that, is such a quantum leap of logic that it can’t realistically be given any credence.

I’m going to cut you just a bit of slack, and blame it on the fact that life in America has become
so cush that men just don’t really much get the chance to see what a Woman can accomplish
when put to the test. Did I forget to mention in the last paragraph, that if there was no one I could
hire, I would get it done on my own.
I am a woman. I am a rockhound. As a rockhound, I travel to places out in the wilds to collect
my treasures. I do this with no company other than my dog most of the time. It is relaxing and
keeps me mentally sharp, physically fit, and well entertained. Unfortunately, I continually get
slammed by men who feel this is wrong for me to do. It is dangerous. I am too old. The car
might break down. I might get lost. Anything could happen. And the one that really gets under
my skin - I belong at home unless I am working or running errands. These are seriously
attitudes that I am faced with frequently.

One February I was stranded in the Ochoco Mountains. Temperatures were in the single digits
at night. It took me 4 days to get out. When I hit the main road, I flagged a car to get a ride to
town. My dog and I were a bit dirty, but didn’t feel any too bad. The same day that I walked out
onto the main road, a man was being dragged off of Mt Hood in a stretcher. He had been out the
same amount of time I had been. He didn’t fare so well. Guess no one ever taught him to climb a
tree to get dry wood to get a fire going. He wasn’t a smoker, so he probably “just forgot” his
lighter, too. The press did it up real well. I was never contacted to talk to the media - guess it
might have made the guy look bad, or just wasn’t exciting without a major rescue involved.

When I got to town I called my boss. He fired me without even asking if I was alright. He
simply pointed out that I had no business going off by myself. Not even on a day off. To this day I
firmly believe that had I been a male, my prowess at getting out of the situation in one piece would
have been highly applauded. Would a man have been told that they had no business leaving the
house on a day off?

Another man asked me if I had “learned my lesson” meaning did I know now my place was in
the home. I quickly pointed out that yes I had. I learned that for a 44 year old woman I was still
pretty buff. I also learned that I can still build a campfire that would make an Indian cry from
jealousy. Oh, and that crayfish and fish are really easy to catch when the water gets cold enough.
The truth is that throughout the history of this nation, women have proved to be able to handle
any conditions a man can, handle any crisis a man can, and even excel financially in even the
roughest of environments. Some of them can do this better than the very man who might have
told them that their place is in the home.

Mining towns and camps were not the easiest places to live. Just getting to some of those
towns in those days was often a life threatening journey. Women were just as likely to survive
the trip as the men were. The towns themselves were often built to be temporary and were
nothing more than tents or cabins with dirt floors at best. Winters were bitter, food often scarce
when weather would not permit supply wagons through. But there were women in these camps.
Surprisingly, many were making more money than the miners.

Once in the camps, women proved to be very enterprising, very necessary, and very well able
to handle the conditions. They set up businesses washing miner’s clothing, cleaning, and much
money was made by good cooks.

One miner’s wife, Mrs. C.J. Everson of Empire, Colorado made her fortune when she
discovered and patented a new means of concentrating metals by pouring pulverized ore in a
solution of water and an oily substance and agitating it. In the early 1880’s the new method of
concentrating allowed many local mines to double and triple their production of gold and silver.

Bet none of the miners ever told her that she should not be there.
Of course there were women, also, that went into the field of mining themselves. I can’t
imagine a man being so pig-headed or insipid to have ever told Nellie Cashman that she had no
business out there in the rough, that she was too frail, or not smart enough to handle the rough
environment.

Nellie was born in Ireland in 1845 and her family came to America during the potato famine. In
1872 she and her mother moved to the Pioche, Nevada mining camp area and opened a
boarding house there. Pretty rough country for a couple of women on their own, one an aged
woman at that.

Nellie moved on a few years later on her own to the Cassiar district of British Columbia, close
to where Juno now stands, where she operated a boarding house and started to actually to do
some placer mining of her own.

It was here she claimed the title “Angel of Mercy”. Nellie was in the Victoria area when she
heard that her fellow miners at Cassiar were hit by an extremely violent blizzard. No one could get
through. Supplies were running out. People were sick. There wasn’t much time to lose in saving
her friends. How could she get through? Not one man who had tried had succeeded.

No one remembered to tell Nellie that her place was in the home. She gathered supplies,
dogs and sleds, hired a few hands, and was off to the rescue. No one could make it through. But
Nellie did.

Her ability to get through the snow that no one else could get through, bringing life saving
medicines and supplies to the camp made her famous. No one told Nellie that she had no
business out there - that she wasn’t capable or that something might happen to her, or that she
didn’t belong out there. The miners were damned grateful that she had the grit to go - they
thought of her as a hero. She had saved them from miserable deaths. She had accomplished
what no man had been able to do.

Nellie continued to work boarding homes and hotels in mining districts. She also became quite
knowledgeable about mining geology and worked and owned several claims. She made much
money and gave much of it to hospitals and churches. In 1905, at the age of 60, Nellie moved to
Nolan Creek in Koyukuk country, the northern most mining area at the time, and a more than
harsh environment. Nellie spent the last twenty years of her life there, working and purchasing
claims which she worked with her own hands and the help of a few paid assistants.

At the age of 79 she finally gave up tending her mines and claims when her health began to
fade and worked her way south to receive care at Sister’s of St. Ann in Victoria - a hospital that
she had contributed much funding for forty years earlier. She died there in January of 1925, at the
age of 80.

Okay, sure, that is one woman, but there were others. Need more convincing?
Caroline Moorehouse Mallin, born in Ohio in 1829, was widowed with 2 children. She became
an extremely successful miner in the Buena Vista area of Colorado. She worked extremely
dangerous avalanche areas at high altitudes, and had 15 mines recorded in her name. Caroline
worked these claims by herself.

The work was not easy. Caroline did her own mining work - shored up her mines with timbers,
drilled and blasted, and even hauled the ores all by her little self. At home life was no easier. She
had to haul water almost a mile, and had to go down the mountain and haul supplies back. After
all she had two children to care for on her own. When the end of the miner’s day had come and
the men started their journey’s home to sit and rest after a hard day, Caroline got to go to her
second job - her home and family. Someone forgot to tell her that this kind of life was too hard for
a woman, or that she might become lost if she ventured from home on her own for supplies.

Olga Schaaf is another woman who just missed the fact that the wilderness is no place for a
woman. Olga started breaking horses for pay at the age of fourteen. At twenty-six she married a
mine owner and worked for him taking pack trains of Burros up the mountains to deliver supplies
to miners who had no means to get supplies in winter. Olga became famous when stranded at a
mine during a snowstorm, she was able to save the lives of the miners (and incidently her own),
leading them out and down the mountain she knew so well to safety and supplies. None of the
miners receiving Olga’s delivered supplies, nor those that she rescued from the mine told her that
a woman needed to stay home because something might happen to her if she left the house on
her own.

Mollie Kathleen Gortner had a different reason for going to mining country - Cripple Creek,
Colorado. She went to visit her son. While there she was looking for a herd of elk her son had
told her about when she accidently found gold, a find that started her own mining career. Her son
staked her first claim for her, but the Manager at the claims office told her women couldn’t file
claims. By the time she left the office, however, she was the proud owner of the soon to be
famous Mollie Kathleen mine. Guess someone forgot to tell her that it was too rough for a woman
out there.

Doctor Susan Anderson (Doc Susie) of Fort Wayne, Indiana moved to the mountains for her
health after finding out she had tuberculosis. She went from Cripple Creek to Denver and on to
Greeley finding little acceptance in these towns for women doctors. She moved back up to the
Mountains of Fraser, Colorado when her illness worsened. She did not tell the people there that
she was a doctor, but word eventually leaked out despite. Doc Suzie ended up with many patients
and was known to travel to very remote places in very difficult weather to treat them. The sick and
injured miners she treated seem to have forgotten to mention that being a woman she was likely
to become lost if she ventured out into the mountains on her own.
Now if these stories aren’t convincing, all you need to do is troll through the histories of the
myriad of mining areas during the gold rush era. Women played a major part of these histories.
They not only supplied the services that miner’s needed, but many were miners themselves,
working all day just to return home to care for their families and friends. The men in these camps
and towns did not tell the women to stay home. They did not admonish them for going into
environments that were hostile or outright dangerous, or where life was hard. Sure bad things
could happen - but they could, and did, happen to men, too. ( Hmmn. No one ever told a man he
should have stayed home if something happened to him while he was out). Men knew they
needed these women, and were grateful that the gals could handle it out there so well. Life would
have been much rougher without them.

All in all, where men came up with the idea that women are helpless is really unclear. Do they
tell us not to go places because they are afraid that THEY couldn’t handle it and would have their
egos severely bruised if a woman could handle something the man could not? Or are they just so
selfish that they think that a woman who is to have a man in her life is to completely give up her
life to be available 24/7 to serve his needs because a man can’t take care of himself without a
servant for a day or two, or just don’t want to have to do anything for themselves? Perhaps they
are worried about the poor little fragile thing like a woman (funny they don’t worry about protecting
her from children’s vomit and diarrhea or blood, terrible working conditions, or just plain over
work).

Now in light of what you just learned, you can see that women just see your protests as silly,
juvenile attempts to control another person’s life for your own selfish wants. For those of you who
kiss your women goodbye even though there is danger where she chooses to go, you are to be
commended for your rationality. The rest of you need to get a clue, grow up, and learn to take
care of yourself a little bit without the continual need of a “mommy” to do it for you. We really
don’t need your guidance to decide how we want to live our lives or what is best for us.

Now that I have unloaded and have spoken my mind, I need to get out of here. There is a
mountain that I want to go check out. If you have a problem with that, don’t bother emailing me. I
am not receptive to your childish and tyrannical whims. You may feel free to call 1-800-waahh
with your complaints anytime, though. Maybe the man that answers the phone will be more
understanding.

See How Owning A Pet Fish Can Be A Great Way To Increase The Bond And Love Within A Family

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I was interested in finding a pet fish for my son’s 6th birthday. We went to the
fish store. The idea is that a pet fish would be an ideal tidy
little pet that would not require a lot of maintenance.

Fish are beautiful and come in a lot of colors. Children respond
to pets. Having a pet is said to teach responsibility to a child.
Fish are the perfect first pet because a child can actually care
for the fish. We decided to get some fresh water fish as opposed
to salt water. This was our first time owning a fish so we did not
want to buy fish that we could not care for.

Fish do not require heavy maintenance. It was easy to have the
pet store show my son what he should do each day to make
sure the fish was taken care of.

We purchased two goldfish. We were not trying to innovative or
buy some rare tropical fish. All we wanted was a couple of healthy
fish.

We chose a small Aquarium that fit the size and number of the two
gold fish we selected. It was interesting to watch the transformation
when my son developed from a little boy to the proud owner and
caretaker for the fish.

The supplies for our little pet fish costs over $100.00, We just
wanted to put the fish in a little bowl but were persuaded to
purchase an aquarium that included all of the following items to make the
fish more comfortable.

  • Aquarium hoods
  • Aquarium Plants
  • Aquarium Water Conditioners
  • Aquarium Thermometers
  • Aquarium Lights
  • Aquarium Filters
  • Aquarium Air Pumps
  • Aquarium Heaters
  • Aquarium Fish Nets
  • Aquarium Gravel
  • In addition to all those items we had to buy fish food. I did not
know that goldfish are omnivores. That means they eat either other animals
or plants. To think that gold fish actually eat vegetables and meat made
me squeamish. I opted to purchase the little flakes. I kept this
information about the meat eaters to myself. I told my son
that he could be almost exclusively responsible for feeding
the new gold fish. Naturally this filled him with some great delight.

We took the fish, the aquarium and all the associated equipment
home. We started immediately putting the ac together.
The aquarium was really beautiful with the plants, castles
and brightly colored stones. We followed the instructions
    that we were given .

The store’s customer service representative encouraged us
to slowly introduce the fish to its new environment
It took over an hour to get the aquarium set up.

We dropped the fish into the tank still in the plastic bag
filled with water. The fish were a beautiful gold color.
We purchased a book on goldfish. I read the instructions and
information about this breed of fish. I discovered that the name
goldfish is a misnomer as all fish of that breed are not gold in
color. Some goldfish have different patches of black or silver.

We had just added new members to our family. We were responsible
for feeding these omnivores food on a daily basis. We had to keep
the water clean. There are a lot of health hazards that we needed to
be aware of and the fish food needed to be of high quality.
The temperature in the house had to be level.

Pets are a great way to bond a family. My son and I
take care of the fish together. The fish are happy and
healthy My son loves watching the fish swim in the new
aquarium. They are thriving in the clean fresh water. My son
is diligent about feeding the gold fish. I thank son for that.

My Top 10 Website and Internet Marketing Tips for Gift Basket Businesses

    Sunday, November 25th, 2007

If you own a gift basket business, want to start one or add one to an existing related business, consider taking your products and gift basket business online. You’ll need to plan ahead and know how you’re going to market it first. Anyone can set up a website but no one will know it’s there until you drive traffic to it. So you’ll need to learn a few Internet marketing tips, tricks and techniques. I’ve outlined some of my most important gift basket business tips in the following list:

    1. Learn copywriting tricks to help you write your website pages. Write like you talk, use contractions, short sentences, and learn the rules for title capitalization. Articles (like ‘a’, ‘an’, etc.) and connector words are not capitalized unless they’re the first word in a sentence. Prepositions are not capitalized if they have four letters or less. Check on the Internet and keep a stylebook or grammar book handy.

    2. Choose the easiest website builder available. Text (WYSIWYG -’what you see is what you get’) editor or html editor? A text editor for website building is best. You don’t need to use an html editor like Frontpage or Dreamweaver to put up a great website! And many report they’re difficult to use. You want a website builder with an easy interface. Plan to be your own Webmaster rather than farming out work to Webmasters or programmers. Expenses can add up fast and you may need to make changes several times a week. Initially it’ll take some time and devotion to learn how to do it, but you’ll have that knowledge forever. You can build even more websites and get paid for consulting too.

    3. Choose a good Web host. Make sure the host offers unlimited amounts of email addresses and lots of bandwidth or data transfer. Call or email support to see how fast they respond. If your website ever goes down in a high traffic period you’ll want to be able to get in touch with them fast. There are hundreds of Web hosts. Read what several Web host reviewers report before you decide. They’re usually pitching an affiliate Web host or two and may not be objective. Look for complaints on the search engines about specific hosts you’re researching. Sign up for monthly service rather than annual service so you can evaluate further if necessary.

    4. Choose the right primary and secondary keywords for your site. Do your research BEFORE you publish. The competition will be high for common words and you’ll likely not end up on the first page. There are several free keyword tools available. In the search engines type in gift basket-related words in quotes to see what the competition is using. How many pages come up? How many visitors for that keyword or keyword phrase? Right click on ‘view source’ to see the keywords in html. Look for keywords in the website and ad headlines and descriptions.

    5. Write your marketing plan BEFORE you start buying any equipment or software, or building your website. You’ll need to know HOW you’re going to market your site BEFORE you start building it. Will you be adding affiliates to your site? Google AdSense? Will you offer a newsletter? Will you be selling other physical products besides your gift baskets? Or maybe you only want a site to market a digital product like an ebook about gift baskets? Plan to submit gift basket-related articles using an article distribution service and press releases using press distribution software. You’ll get sought-after inbound links through the reprinting of your articles and press releases. Also sign up for a good link service.

    6. Choose the right affiliates if you plan to include affiliate marketing. Make sure the affiliates fit with your gift basket theme. Don’t add totally unrelated banners.

    7. Learn how to use eBay in your marketing plan for an extra boost in sales and exposure. Use the “About Me” page to hype your website.

    8. Learn html code — optional but I highly recommend it. Use a simple free tutorial offered on the Internet. You don’t have to write code unless you want to. It’s not necessary with the text editors out there that do the work for you. You could spend hours writing html. Why do that? You can learn the basics in a day or so. You don’t have to learn the advanced code. Even if you only take two or three lessons you’ll be way ahead of the game.

    9. Learn how to write a free newsletter to boost your online presence. Take dozens of other free newsletters in various fields of interest and study style and techniques. Offer your free newsletter in the beginning when you first publish your site to start collecting subscribers. Don’t wait until later.

    10. Choose an autoresponder service to handle your newsletter database, send out newsletter inquiry responses and free reports you’re offering. This is a must if you plan to have a newsletter. It’s the best way to handle your subscribers, send out confirmations, and get your newsletter out, etc. It usually costs about $20 per month.

Make sure to back-up everything. Back up your website files daily, if you make any changes. I know this is basic. Make copies of your site to CDs often. Put website copies on another computer hard drive. Network two computers if possible. Anything can happen to your hard drive. A surge, lightning, age, drive defect, etc., can damage your hard drive in an instant.

These are just a few of the gift basket business tips you can use to get your online gift basket business up and running. It takes research and hard work but it’ll be well worth the effort in an increased customer base and a big boost in income.

When you do get your gift basket website up, if you plan it right, it can mean lifetime income. With weekly maintenance adding rich content, more pages, affiliates, products and specialty baskets, and daily good marketing, you’ll get a big boost in your gift basket business income. Millions go online typing in gift basket-related inquiries daily. I hope you find these gift basket business tips useful. Happy Internet marketing!

Finding Wow Gold for Sale Online

    Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Each day multiple players of the World of Warcraft consider buying wow gold. Wow gold is used to purchase weapons and other items that can be used to help achieve victory. Wow gold is for sale online at a number of locations.

Finding wow gold for sale online is a fairly easy process. Even though it is an easy process, there is a little bit of time and research that should go into purchasing wow gold online. One of the most important things to consider when looking for wow gold for sale online is where or who you are purchasing the gold from.

There are a large number of legitimate online websites run by individuals or companies; however, not all may be. It is important to remember that the internet has made it easy for just about anyone to develop a website. This means that a person can sell or claim to sell just about anything. When finding wow gold for sale online it is important to know who you are dealing with and what their experience is with offering wow gold for sale online.

If you are unable to determine this from an individual or company website you may want to ask other video game players. The internet is full on online message boards and chat rooms that are centered on video games. This should give you the opportunity to ask other gamers for feedback on a particular company or individual who is offering wow gold for sale online.

Online website are the most common places where wow gold can be found for sale; however, there are other places online too. It is not uncommon to see wow gold being sold on an online message board or an online auction site. These places may be a great way to find the cheapest wow gold, but that does not mean you will always get it. Many individuals or companies who have established a working website with a large amount of gaming information are more reliable and likely to provide better service.

Buying wow gold for sale on online auction sites can sometimes work because many buyers are protected if they use certain payment methods. This protection will all depend on the online auction site in question. Before buying wow gold for sale on an online auction site you are encouraged to check the feedback of a seller and know the protection provided by the site.

As previously mentioned, buying wow gold is a great way to increase your performance when playing War of Warcraft. If you are a World of Warcraft player the decision as to where you want to buy wow gold from is up to you, but you should be cautious and keep the above mentioned points in mind.

Did you say, diamonds are forever?

    Friday, November 23rd, 2007

It is said the sparkle from canadian diamond rings mimics the eerie and enchanting radiance of the Northern Lights. This is a t of a romantic notion as it is actually the cut of the diamond, not its national identity that makes it twinkle like a Northern star. Still Canadian diamonds are among the whitest in the world. Thanks to stringent government regulations in the Northwest Territories they are also extremely high quality. This Canadian reputation for integrity means that canadian diamond rings are competing well in the gem stone jewelry market.

Canadian diamonds are also quite special because they have only been around thirty years. Prior to their discovery in Canada’s Artic north in 1985, the finest quality diamonds were sourced from South Africa. This monopoly was put to an end when two Canadian geologists, Charles Fipke and his partner Stuart Blusson discovered a large vein of Kimberlite near Lac De Gras in the Yukon, Canada. This discovery was exciting as Kimberlite is the ideal stone-growing medium for high quality diamonds. Soon after this, in 1991, yet another source of diamonds in Kimberlite was found in Nunavit in the Northwest Territories.

The money to extract these diamonds comes from the Canadian government and the gemstones that are produced are also certified by the government body. This means that unlike many diamonds that you can buy today, the Canadian diamond can be traced back to the diamond it was mined from. Canadian diamonds are also etched with a serial number as well as a teensy microscopic image of a polar bear or a maple leaf. All diamonds mined in this conscientious country come with a Canadian Triple Guarantee, which ures the quality and purity of the rock.

In the last thirty years, Canada has risen to become one of the top three producers of gemstone quality diamonds in the world. Although South Africa produces the most diamonds, many of them are for industrial and technological uses. Currently Canada is the third top producer of diamonds for rings behind Botswana and Russia.

Two of the largest diamond mines in Canada are located very near and just north of the city of Yellowknife in the North West Territories. Two mines are operated in this area - the Diavik and Ekati mines. The third g mine, called Jericho-3 just started mining operations in 2005 in Nunavut. A fourth mine called Snap Lake-4, which is in Northern Ontario (and quite a t south of the other three diamond mines) is scheduled to begin production in 2007.

Charles Fipke and Stewart Blusson, the geologists who originally discovered the vein of Kimberlite, own Canada’s first diamond mine, the Ekati Mine, along with the Australian mining conglomerate BHP llton. This treasure trove is expected to be in production for the next two decades. It currently produces four per cent of the world’s fine diamonds.

The Diavik mine is cooperatively owned by a British mining called Rio Tinto PLC and the the Aber Diamond Corp that is based in Toronto, Ontario. It has been in production since 2003. It produces 8,000,000 carats of diamonds. This mine sells $100,000,000 worth of gemstones a year. This mine is expected to be in production for the next two decades and is currently responsible for providing 5% of the worlds gemstone quality diamonds.

The Jericho-3 mine is located near the north end of Contwoyto Lake in West Kitikmeot in the Canadian Territory of Nunavut. It is operated by the Tahera Diamond Corporation, which has been researching the viality of operating the mine year round in Nunavit’s harsh climate. It has only been in business for several months but it is projected to be a generous resource of glittering diamonds for at least the next eight years.

You know a diamond deposit is serious valuable when DeBeers decides to get a piece of the action. The Snap Lake mine, that is scheduled to open next year is owned and operated by the gargantuan South African mining company. This particular mine is located beneath a lake in the James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario. The nearest community is the coastal village of Attawapiskat. This mine, which requires a great deal of technological innovation to extract the Canadian diamonds from beneath tons of water, apparently has a rich deposit of gems that will produce for at least eight years.

One of the great things this mine is they have gone a long way towards making Canada’s indigenous people, Indians and Eskimos, quite wealthy The mines provide high-income jobs with an average salary of $63,000. These are permanent jobs that are currently handled by aboriginal peoples such as the Dene First Nation. When you buy canadian diamonds you are also supporting an indigenous culture.

The relatively recent discoveries of these diamond mines have caused a flurry of excitement, not unlike the Yukon Gold Rush. According to Statistics Canada, by February 2004 prospecting companies from all over the world laid claim to more than 70 million acres in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The most dramatic increase in diamond prospecting is in Nunavut in Northern Ontario, where the number of prospecting permits grew to 1,518 in 2004 from just 190 in 2003.

Over the years, Canadian Diamonds have earned quite a reputation for quality and integrity. As they are traceable, you know that they are not sold to fund terrorism in Angola or other African countries. Canadian diamonds are of very high quality with their most precious characteristic being their brilliant white color. This is especially true of the diamonds that come from the Ekati mines. Their purity and clarity makes a stellar diamond engagement ring.

According to Statistics Canada, 13.8 million carats of diamonds worth approximately $2.8 llion were mined in Canada between 1998 and 2002. This means that every day, Canadian mines produce $1.5 million worth of diamonds, which is the equivalent of a 1.5 kilogram bag full of the gems. Overall, Canada now produces 15% of the world’s diamonds in total and this trend towards prosperity will increase providing the weather cooperates and these mines are always allowed to operate with year round efficiency.

    Additional for More Infromation

A CD is generally considered a low risk investment option, but watch out for the penalties. They can cut into your returns.

CDs are generally designed to be long term investments. You don’t just park your money there and withdraw it as needed — this will cost you if you do.

Banks ask you to invest your money for a minimum amount of time — anywhere between six months to five years or more). In return, you receive a higher interest rate than you would with a savings account. The bank likes knowing how long your money will be invested. Penalties help insure that you will leave your money where it is.

The money is used by the bank to fund loans and buy other investments. If everyone was to demand their money at once, they would have a serious financial situation on their hands. They need commitments to minimize their risk.

CD penalties are typically seen when the money is withdrawn from the CD before it reaches maturity. Banks usually charge a penalty that is in relation to how much interest you would have earned if you had allowed the CD to reach maturity. You frequently see banks that charge 90 days of interest for early withdrawals. However, there is no maximum penalty amount, so it is important to thoroughly know the terms of your CD.

As the term lengthens, the more of a penalty you can expect to pay. If you have a one-year CD, you may only pay 30 days of interest. If you have a five-year CD, you could pay 120 days of interest. Make sure that you know exactly what your penalty will be before you withdraw your money. It could change your mind.

Banks can and will invade the principal of the CD in order to penalize you. For example, if you have only had the CD for 60 days, you haven’t even accrued 90 days of interest yet. You will withdraw less than you put in if you are penalized for 90 days of interest. You have lost money on a fairly risk-free investment.

But if you are truly in a tight spot, you can make a case for yourself. Go to your bank in person and ask to have the penalty waived. This often works if:

    • You have a good relationship with your bank.
    • You have a serious emergency — like a death in the family.
    • You reinvest the amount you don’t need to use back into a CD product with the bank.

For example, your spouse pes away suddenly. You were totally unprepared and need money for funeral expenses. You’ve held CDs at your local bank for years, without every withdrawing early. You can always go down to your bank and ask that you are able to break your CD without penalty due to your situation. Explain that you only need a portion of the CD amount and want to reinvest the remaining money immediately. It never hurts to ask, and you would be surprised at how many small, local banks would do this for you.

Many CDs and banks actually allow penalties to be waived on CDs that are broken due to death, disality, retirement and other life events. But if you don’t ask, you might not know. This highlights the importance of talk to your bank in person, instead of conducting the business online or by automated phone system.

In general, you should try to avoid breaking your CDs, except in a true emergency situation. It cost you money in penalties and loss of potential return. CDs are low risk, until you start breaking them.
